The death has taken place of the American Nobel Prize-winning economist, Milton Friedman, who was 94.
He was regarded as one of the most influential economists of the 20th century and was a champion of free enterprise in the face of government regulation.
He pioneered the theory of 'monetarism', in which he argued that the supply of money as opposed to tax policy was the key to controlling inflation.
Mr Friedman's ideas played pivotal roles in the governing philosophies of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and former US President Ronald Reagan.
