Dubliner Bernard Dunne has beaten Englishman Esham Pickering to claim the vacant European super bantamweight title in front of a sell-out crowd at the Point Depot last night.
26-year-old Dunne, who is from Neilstown, won a unanimous points decision over 12 rounds.
He is now unbeaten in 22 fights.
The Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, John O'Donoghue, has congratulated Mr Dunne on what he described as a marvellous achievement.
