Monaghan councillors have said they are very disappointed following a meeting with the Minister for Health, Mary Harney, over the future of the Monaghan General Hospital.

The delegation had two hours of discussion with the Minister and HSE officials where they outlined their concerns over the future of the hospital.

However speaking at the end of the meeting Councillor Padraig McNally, Mayor of Monaghan, said they were all deeply disappointed with the outcome because the Minister refused to restore full services to the hospital.

The delegation acknowledged there will now be further street protests concerning the future of Monaghan General Hospital.
