Fine Gael and Labour have published joint proposals aimed at making the subjects of mathematics and science more relevant to secondary school students.
The proposals include making science a compulsory subject at Junior Certificate level.
Fine Gael and Labour also want Information Technology introduced as a new subject at Junior Certificate level.
The two parties say schools need substantial improvements in equipment and facilities.
