A man in his 20s who was seriously injured in a road accident in Co Down yesterday has died in hospital.

His red Peugeot car was in collision with a blue Land Rover on the Ballynahinch Road near Annahilt around 7.15am.

The driver of the Land Rover was treated in hospital and later released.

The PSNI has appealed for witnesses.

Road victims are named

Gardaí have named the 22-month-old boy who was fatally injured in Clonsilla yesterday.

He was Evon Keane of Charnwood Grove, Clonsilla, Dublin 15.

Earlier, the PSNI have released the names of the two victims of the road crash outside Newry shortly before midnight yesterday on the Dublin Road.

They were 26-year-old Gerry Fearon from Dromintee, south Armagh.

He was a passenger in a white Renault Clio van.

The second victim was a taxi driver. He was 44-year-old Stephen Shields.

He came originally from Crossmaglen, south Armagh but lived in Newry, not far from where the accident happened.
