An Irish charity that helps the poor in Africa has criticised a new prize scheme for African leaders.
The scheme, intended to that will reward African leaders for good governance, will give a $5 million prize to the African leader deemed to be the best head of state.
It was launched by British-based businessman Mo Ibrahim who says it is designed to reduce corruption and promote better governance in Africa.
John O'Shea, CEO of GOAL, said the Government needed to address other ways of helping those in most need.
