The Tánaiste and PD leader Michael McDowell has warned that Ireland's economic prosperity and success cannot be taken for granted.
Mr McDowell says that it will be the combination of parties in government after the next election that will determine economic strategy.
He was addressing the annual conference of the Dublin Economic Workshop in Kenmare, Co Kerry.
At the same conference the Labour Party leader Pat Rabbitte accused the government of failures in all areas of social policy and said that ordinary people were suffering the burden of that failure.
