Labour TD Ruairi Quinn has lodged an objection to the proposed incinerator at Poolbeg in south Dublin.
Submitting papers to An Bord Pleanála this morning, Mr Quinn claimed it was a 'foolish proposal'.
He was supported by colleagues Cllr Dermot Lacey, Cllr Kevin Humphreys, Cllr Mary Freehill and Cllr Oisín Quinn.
He added: 'This project has been poorly planned and poorly implemented by Dublin city officials to date, and the last thing the people of Ringsend, Irishtown and Sandymount need is another disaster like the Sewage Treatment Plant on their doorsteps.'
