Private companies sought for schools scheme

The Government is looking for private companies to build and run four new second-level schools.

The schools are to be built as public-private partnerships and replace existing schools at three locations in the midlands.

Under the model, the schools will be built and operated by the private sector and rented back by the State for 25 years.

After that time the buildings revert to the State. There are five schools currently operating under public-private partnerships.

Tenders for the proposed new schools were published today by the National Development Finance Agency.
