Up to 200 jobs to be lost at Cork plant

Printing group Banta Corporation is to move some of the work done at its Cork plant to a new facility in the Czech Republic.

It said up to 200 of the 350 workers in Cork could be laid off, with the redundancies happening during the first quarter of next year. 150 of these 200 workers are permanent.

Banta said the Czech move would help bring its costs into line with those of its competitors.

The company is involved in printing books, magazines, catalogues and direct marketing material.
