The Government has told relatives of the 1981 Stardust fire that it has not yet decided if there should be a new public inquiry into the tragedy.
Families bereaved by the fire met the Taoiseach and Tánaiste this evening as part of their campaign to establish a new commission of inquiry into the fire, which killed 48 people.
Greg O'Neill, a solicitor for the Stardust Victims' Committee, said the Government indicated that it would take at least another six weeks to finalised its position on the matter.
A Government statement said a formal response to the request for a new inquiry would be given when written and verbal submissions had received detailed examination.
