The UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, has said Syria has promised to bolster security along its border with Lebanon to prevent arms shipments to Hezbollah.
The US has accused Syria of providing Hezbollah with weapons and support.
Mr Annan's comments follow meetings with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad this morning and King Abdullah II of Jordan yesterday.
He is in the region in order to cement the UN-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.
