A suicide bomb attack in southern Afghanistan has left 17 people dead and at least 50 injured.
The blast occurred in a crowded bazaar in Lashkar Gah, provincial capital of Helmand province.
It is understood many of the victims were children.
Helmand, where the bulk of 4,750 British NATO troops are based, has seen regular violence blamed on the Taliban.
Fighting across Afghanistan is now at its worst since 2001, mostly in southern and eastern regions.
About 2,000 people have been killed in violence this year, including more than 90 foreign soldiers.
Separately, one Turkish engineer has been killed and another Turkish security employee abducted on the road between Kandahar and the western city of Herat.
The men were working for the Ankara-based company, Kolin Insaat, which is involved in reconstruction work in Afghanistan.
