Nine die in northern Iraq bombing

A suicide bomber has killed nine people outside the offices of a Kurdish political party in northern Iraq.

Clashes between gunmen and Iraqi soldiers killed six in the south.

A dump truck rigged with explosives was detonated at the offices of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, led by Iraq's President Jalal Talabani, in the city of Mosul.

Five Kurdish peshmerga militiamen were among the dead and 36 people were wounded.

In the southern city of Kerbala, clashes erupted between Shia gunmen and Iraqi forces after troops raided the religious school of cleric Mahmoud al-Hasani. Twelve people were injured and authorities declared a vehicle curfew in the city.

Mr Hasani's office said in a statement Iraqi troops had arrested 250 of his supporters after storming his office.
