The Minister of State for Overseas Aid, Conor Lenihan, has announced that grant aid of €250,000 is to be given to assist the work of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
The announcement follows a visit made by President Mary McAleese to the Tribunal, which sits in Tanzania, last June.
The Irish funding is to be directed towards outreach activities in rural communities in Rwanda, and for medical support for witnesses living with HIV/AIDS.
