42 people have been killed and 33 wounded in an attack at a market in Iraq.
The blast happened in the town of Mahmoudiyah, south of Baghdad.
There are conflicting reports, with some sources saying there had been a car bomb blast, while others say there were a series of explosions.
Police had earlier reported that gunmen had attacked the market.
Some sources said the police had engaged in a firefight with the gunmen, while others said the shots were fired by police to disperse crowds after the car bomb blast.
Al-Qaeda and Shia militias have been active in the area.
The attack came on the anniversary of the 1968 coup d'etat that brought Saddam Hussein's Sunni-dominated Baath party to power.
