Former Fianna Fáil TD for Dublin North-West Michael Barrett has died. He was 79.
A native of Loughglynn, Co Roscommon, Mr Barrett was first elected to the Dáil in 1981 and served as TD for Dublin North-West until 1992.
He was a member of Dublin City Council and before entering full-time politics worked for An Foras Taluntais.
