Labour and Fine Gael are to table a motion in the Dáil next week calling for an early General Election.
Announcing the move, Pat Rabbitte said that the motion would provide an opportunity for an end of term review of the Government's performance.
It will list 13 areas where the Oppostion say the Coalition has failed to deliver.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Defence Willie O'Dea has said he is suprised that an opinion poll has shown the Opposition's lead over the Government has declined.
The Red C Poll for the Sunday Business Post found that support for the Government was down one point but also that combined support Fine Gael and Labour was down by two.
Sinn Féin support, at 9%, is up one point, as are the Greens at 7%.
PD support is unchanged at 3%; while Independents and others are up one at nine%.
