There were considerable delays to Aer Lingus flights at both Shannon and Dublin airports today after the company's check in system crashed.

Dublin Airport Authority assisted with the manual check-in of passengers after the system went down at 10.45am this morning.

The incident caused a backlog of delays on most European flights.

Transatlantic flights are running as normal.
