Doctors who treated Dublin teenager Brian Murphy are to be called to give evidence to the Dublin City Coroner's Court.
The inquest into the death of Brian Murphy, who died after he was attacked outside the Burlington Hotel in August 2000, has reopened this afternoon.
Coroner Dr Brian Farrell said he wants to establish precisely the cause of Mr Murphy's death and deal with the issue as thoroughly as possible.
He said he will write to St Vincent's hospital where Mr Murphy was treated before his death to obtain medical notes, x-rays, scans and reports from the senior doctors involved.
There are differing opinions as to the cause of Mr Murphy's death, which led to the State not proceeding with the retrial of Dermot Laide, whose conviction for manslaughter was overturned at the Court of Criminal Appeal.
