An American Airlines passenger plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Dublin Airport this morning.

The jet was en route from London Heathrow to JFK in New York when the pilot reported a smell of smoke in the cockpit.

A company spokesperson said there appeared to have been a problem with an oven in the galley.

The Boeing 777-200 touched down safely in Dublin at around 10am.

All 135 passengers were removed from the aircraft while it was inspected by engineers.
