The former president of Peru, Alberto Fujimori, has said the 12 charges of human rights abuses and corruption against him are 'unjustified'.
Mr Fujimori faces charges of embezzling $15 million and using excessive anti-terrorism measures to crush Peru's Shining Path Maoist rebels.
He was released on bail earlier this week by the Chilean authorities while he awaits a decision on his extradition to Peru.
Speaking to reporters, Mr Fujimori said some human rights abuses took place during his ten years in office but he described them as isolated incidents that he should not be blamed for.
He has been in Chile since arriving unexpectedly from Japan last year.
Human rights groups say there is a risk Mr Fujimori will flee and should not have been released.
