The Government is expected to begin putting forward proposals for the social provisions of a new national pay agreement today.
Fr Sean Healy of the Conference of Religious in Ireland said the social and voluntary sector would be insisting that any new agreement offers real progress on social housing and improving incomes for those on low pay and social welfare.
The social strand of the talks is expected to last for several weeks.
