An opinion poll in today's Sunday Business Post shows a big rise in support for Fianna Fáil, with the party gaining five percentage points since the newspaper's last poll a month ago.

The latest poll shows Fianna Fáil have gained at the expense of Fine Gael and Sinn Féin.

Fianna Fáil have 38% support, Fine Gael are down two percentage points at 23% and Sinn Féin have dropped three percentage points to 8%.

Elsewhere, Labour is unchanged at 11%, the Green Party is unchanged at 7%, as are the PDs at 4% and others at 9%.

Since the last RED C poll in the Sunday Business Post one month ago, there have been three party conferences and a two-week Dáil recess.

There has also been the first military parade commemorating the Easter Rising in 35 years.

And that may have had the biggest political impact.

The next poll, at the end of May, will tell if Fianna Fáil’s gains at the expense of Fine Gael and Sinn Féin are just a flash in the pan or part of a long-term trend.
