The Prison Service has confirmed that Dessie O’Hare, the INLA man known as the Border Fox, has been granted extended temporary release.

O’Hare was serving a sentence for kidnapping and mutilating the Dublin dentist, John O’Grady, in 1988.

He took a High Court action and was declared a qualifying prisoner under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement.

He had been released for short periods in preparation for his final release.
