The former Fine Gael Minister, Michael Lowry, has paid €1.43m to the Revenue Commissioners arising from tax interests and penalties due by him and his company Garuda Ltd.
The payment was made known to the Moriarty Tribunal today.
The tribunal is to hear evidence concerning how the Revenue Commissioners dealt with Mr Lowry.
In an opening statement today, Jacqueline O’Brien SC, for the tribunal, said the possibility of a criminal prosecution of Mr Lowry was still a live issue.
