Search off Kerry coast called off for night

A search off the coast of Co Kerry for a Dublin man, who fell into the sea while walking on the shoreline of Ballinskellings Bay this afternoon, has been called off for the evening.

The man and three companions were walking on a path close to Ballinaskellings Pier when, shortly after 2.30pm, the accident happened.

Rescue services, including the Shannon based coastguard helicopter, the Valencia lifeboat and a number of cliff and coast rescue teams, attended the scene today.

The search finished up just before darkness and is due to resume when tides are low at around 1pm tomorrow.
