France's Constitutional Council has approved the government's youth jobs law, leaving it to President Jacques Chirac to either sign it into law or withdraw it under pressure from protesters.
Student and trade unions have mobilised in recent weeks in protests demanding the law be withdrawn, but
Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin has insisted it is necessary to reform France's rigid labour laws to create more jobs.
President Chirac's office confirmed this evening that the president will make a nationwide television address tomorrow evening at 7.00pm Irish time.
