SIPTU vote in favour of action

SIPTU members at Aer Lingus have voted in favour of industrial action should the government press ahead with plans to privatise the airline without consultation.

About two thirds of SIPTU members at the airline took part in the ballot which resulted in a 94% vote in favour of industrial action.

The Minister for Transport, Martin Cullen, had indicated that the cabinet may make a decision on the part privatisation of the airline next week.
