Nigerian authorities to hand over Taylor

The Nigerian authorities have agreed to a request from Liberia to hand over the former Liberian president, Charles Taylor.

Mr Taylor, who has been living in exile in Nigeria since 2003, is wanted for alleged war crimes.

He moved to Nigeria under the terms of a peace agreement ending 14 years of civil war in Liberia.

A special United Nations war crimes court in Sierra Leone wants to try Mr Taylor for his role in fuelling that war.
