Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams and colleagues Rita O'Hare and Richard McAuley were unable to attend scheduled events in Buffalo, New York last night and today after they were detained by security screening problems at Dulles Airport.
Speaking before departing for Boston, Mr Adams said he was deeply disappointed he could not attend the events in Buffalo, where 700 people had turned up to be briefed on the peace process.
He said he had complained again about the additional security screening.
