The former Iraqi President, Saddam Hussein, has dismissed the Baghdad court trying him for crimes against humanity as a comedy against him and his comrades.
He was speaking after formally beginning his defence, although the trial judge soon closed the court to journalists after Saddam Hussein called on Iraqis, as he put it, to resist the invaders.
He and seven co-accused are being prosecuted over the deaths of 148 people in the Shia village of Dujail following a 1982 assassination attempt.
