The Irish Farmers' Association has rejected suggestions that poultry sales here have fallen as high as 20% amid concerns over bird flu.

The country's largest farming representative body said only imports have been hit by the decline.

Meanwhile, free-range producers report an increase in business.

Organic producers are currently awaiting an EU decision on a request from the Government to allow birds to be kept indoors for longer than the current 12-week maximum without losing their free-range status.
