George W Bush - Warning over deal
George W Bush - Warning over deal

There has been a mixed reaction to a nuclear deal signed between the United States and India.

Under the deal, announced by US President George W Bush in Delhi yesterday, India will open its nuclear facilities to inspection in return for access to US civil nuclear technology.

The agreement was welcomed by the United Nations chief nuclear inspector, Mohamed ElBaradei.

However, both Democratic and Republican members of the US Congress have warned the deal will undermine efforts to put pressure on countries with nuclear ambitions like Iran and North Korea.

The deal will have to get the approval of Congress before it is passed.
