450 new jobs are to be created in Cork by the online retailer Amazon.
The Fortune 500 company is to set up a new multi-lingual customer services centre at the Cork Airport Business Park, with the support of IDA Ireland.
The centre will primarily serve customers of Amazon's UK, French and German Internet sites.
The announcement was made this afternoon in Seattle by the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin, who is on a trade mission to the United States.
It is understood that Cork beat off competition from Dublin and Glasgow for the new jobs.
Amazon is one of the largest online retailers in the world, with revenues of more than $8.4bn in 2005.
The company already operates a Systems and Networks centre at the Digital Hub in Dublin.
