IKEA to lodge application tomorrow

The Swedish furniture retailer IKEA will lodge a planning application for its new store in Dublin tomorrow.

The company will ask Fingal County Council for permission for a 30,000 square metre shop in Ballymun.

IKEA's project manager in Ireland, Theresa Daly, said the company was delighted to reach this stage.

She said she believed the application met all the tests of national policy as well as local and national planning guidelines.

IKEA has rejected suggestions that the new shop will lead to traffic congestion on the M50 motorway.
