Fianna Fáil has ruled out any further inquiry into donations by developers to party members, until the Mahon Tribunal reports.
The statement follows yesterday's admission by two members of the parliamentary party that they had failed to inform a Fianna Fáil inquiry of donations from developer Chris Jones.
The issue was raised today in the Dáil by Green Party leader Trevor Sargent, who referred to evidence at the Mahon Tribunal yesterday.
Fianna Fáil TD GV Wright admitted getting a payment of £5,000 from Chris Jones. Initially he had told the Fianna Fáil inquiry he had £500 six years ago.
Parliamentary party colleague Senator Don Lydon similarly admitted receiving £7,000 he had ‘forgotten’ to tell the Fianna Fáil inquiry about.
The late Liam Lawlor resigned from Fianna Fáil after the same inquiry criticised his failure to co-operate with it.
Trevor Sargent asked what Mr Ahern was going to do with his two forgetful followers.
A Fianna Fáil spokesperson said the party would wait for the Mahon Tribunal to report before deciding if further action is needed.
