Iran has threatened to pull out of the Non-Proliferation Treaty if it is forced to limit its nuclear activities.
Speaking in Tehran, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said if the rights of the Iranian people were violated, Iran would revise its policy to use nuclear technology for peaceful means.
Earlier this month, the International Atomic Energy Agency decided to report Iran to the United Nations Security Council over its disputed nuclear programme.
The NPT, which has 187 signatories, was created to prevent new nuclear states emerging and to promote co-operation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
