An Bord Pleanála has begun a hearing into plans by O'Flynn Construction to build a €200m residential and leisure complex at the historic Dunkettle House Estate at Glanmire in Co Cork.
O'Flynn Construction, which purchased the 146-acre demesne in 2003 for some €24m, is proposing 629 new homes including a retail unit, equestrian centre and sports facilities on the estate.
The decision by Cork County Council to grant planning permission for more than 500 houses has been appealed to the board by three parties, including the Glounthaune Community Association.
The hearing is being heard at Gresham Metropole Hotel and is due to run for up to three days. A site visit will also be made before a report will be presented to the board.
