Three members of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, the militant armed offshoot of the Fatah movement, have been reportedly killed in an Israeli helicopter attack in Gaza City.

The Israeli attack targetted a centre in Gaza City belonging to the Fatah movement of Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.

Earlier, Mr Abbas agreed with Hamas leaders to convene the new Palestinian Parliament on 16 February.

Ismail Haniyeh, one of three Hamas leaders to meet with Abbas in Gaza, said the group would seek to speed up formation of a new Palestinian government, although Abbas had not yet formally asked them to do so.

A Hamas delegation is set to head to Cairo tomorrow for talks with the movement's external political leaders to discuss the make-up of the government.

The Cairo talks will follow up the work of a Hamas delegation that went to Damascus earlier this week for consultations with the group's exiled political leader, Khaled Meshaal.
