The Chairman of Bord Na gCon, Pascal Taggart, has said he intends to go ahead with a news conference in Dublin tomorrow to answer questions on the growing controversy surrounding the sacking of the Board's CEO, Aidan Tynan.
The Minister for Sport, John O'Donoghue, earlier confirmed he had written to Mr Taggart telling him it would be distinctly unhelpful for matters which are now the subject of an investigation to be aired further in public.
Earlier this week, Mr O'Donoghue appointed the former secretary general of the Department of Justice, Tim Dalton, to carry out an urgent investigation into the sacking of Mr Tynan.
Mr Tynan claims that details about the doping of two greyhounds had not been brought to the public’s attention.
Mr Taggart has called a news conference for 10am tomorrow at Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium where he says he will answer all questions in relation to the controversy.
He had also urged supporters to turn up at Shelbourne Park.
This afternoon the acting CEO of the board, Michael Foley, confirmed that following a request from the secretary of the department, he will not be attending the news conference.
