16 killed, 65 injured in Iraq blasts

Two car bombs are reported to have killed at least 16 people and wounded 65 others in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Sources said one car bomb exploded in a market and the other in a petrol station.

Earlier, a woman died when a US helicopter fired rockets at a house in the, mainly Shia, Sadr City area.

Separately, the US military in Iraq said that four US soldiers had been killed in rebel attacks.

Three soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb south of Baghdad yesterday, and another died of his wounds in a separate shooting attack.

A marine also died of wounds after being hit by small arms fire near the former insurgent stronghold of Fallujah, west of Baghdad, a statement said.

Arab Sunni rebels are waging a campaign of suicide bombings, roadside bombs and shootings in a bid to drive out US troops and topple the Shi'ite-led government.
