Saddam Hussein - Trial adjourned in Baghdad

The trial of the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, and seven co-defendants has been adjourned for 11 days after all eight defendants refused to turn up in court in Baghdad this morning.

The adjournment is to allow time for more witnesses to be notified.

The defence teams have been boycotting the trial saying they will not return to court until the new chief judge, Raouf Abdel Rahman, resigns.

Saddam Hussein and his seven co-defendants deny charges of crimes against humanity.
