A report by Bord na gCon into the sacking of the greyhound board's Chief Executive Aidan Tynan has been delivered to the Minister for Sports, John O'Donoghue.

The board's chairman, Pascal Taggart, has insisted the sacking was unrelated to a letter Mr Tynan sent to the minister warning that the integrity of the doping control system had been undermined.

The letter said Mr Taggart had ensured that the findings of drug testing were not published - contrary to established policy.

The Department of Agriculture and Food has confirmed that it is carrying out investigations under the Animal Remedies Act which controls the use of drugs in animals.

The Fine Gael spokesman on Arts, Culture and Sport, Jimmy Deenihan, said he believed the results of disciplinary proceedings should have been published. He said an independent body should oversee such proceedings.
