Finance workers are to demand a 10% pay increase over the next two years when talks on a new national wage agreement get under way later this week.
The finance union, the Irish Bank Officials Association, also wants a local bargaining clause included in any new pay deal.
The bank officials’ union said pay in the private sector had fallen way behind the public service and any successor to sustaining progress should address the anomaly.
The IBOA General Secretary, Larry Broderick, said profitable employers should reward employees with adequate wage increases.
