Health insurer BUPA Ireland has confirmed that the price of its policies will go up by an average of 9.5% from 1 March.
The insurer said that the increase is because of the 10% rise in the cost of private beds in public hospitals.
The company's cheapest insurance plan, Essential, will go up by 6%.
BUPA said that the prices rises are due to higher medical costs, in particular the increase in the cost of private beds in public hospitals.
It said that the increases are not related to the Government’s plans to introduce the Risk Equalisation Scheme.
