Canadian officials say the country's most senior diplomat in Afghanistan has been killed in a suicide bomb attack that also killed two others.
Reports say the attack on a military convoy also wounded at least 12 others.
A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the strike in Kandahar city, once the stronghold of the Islamic hardline regime that was ousted by US-led forces in late 2001.
