US bid over Ethiopia/Eritrea dispute

The United States says it is sending a high-level delegation team to Ethiopia and Eritrea to try to solve their long-running border dispute.

The US ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, has presented the initiative to the United Nations Security Council.

The two neighbouring east African countries fought a bloody civil war over the border which ended in 2000. However, the dispute has never been resolved to the satisfaction of both sides.
