The men were found in their life raft by a Spanish flagged merchant tanker.
US Coastguard at Norfolk, Virginia said the men are currently being taken from the raft onto the ship in what have been described as heavy seas.
Earlier this evening it was reported the men had sent out distress signals.
The signals were picked up by the US Coastguard at Norfolk, Virginia, and the nearest ship in the area was sent to the men's rescue.
