Football fans have been continuing to pay tributes to the former Manchester United and Northern Ireland player, George Best, who died yesterday in London, aged 59.

A minute's silence was held before the start of each of the weekend's Football League matches across Britain today in his honour.

Books of condolence are meanwhile being opened at Belfast city hall and at Old Trafford where fans have been leaving messages, flowers, scarves and shirts.

Mr Best died in hospital after suffering multiple organ failure, eight weeks after being admitted with flu-like symptoms.

He will be buried beside his mother in Belfast late next week.
